ASTM F887 Standard Specifications for Personal Climbing Equipment
ArcWear and Kinectrics partner to perform arc testing for harnesses and lanyards in accordance with ASTM F887.
Do you need to perform the post-arc drop test? ArcWear works with several U.S. laboratories, at the client's preference, to coordinate the drop test following arc testing.
This standard assures that the materials in a harness, lanyard and other components do not melt and drip in an electric arc exposure of 40 cal/cm2 and properly perform the fall protection requirements after the exposure. ASTM F887 is required by OSHA 1910.269 for workers exposed to arc flash.
ArcWear has done more than 95% of all ASTM F887 testing; our expertise assists in achieving compliance.
For full compliance with ASTM F887, qualification testing is required. Both harnesses and lanyards must be tested for compliance with the requirements identified in ANSI/ASSE Z359.1, with one modification: webbing used in the construction of harnesses shall have a minimum breaking strength of 7,000 lb (31.14 kN).
Harnesses: 10 harnesses
Shock Absorbing Lanyards, Self-Retracting Lifelines, Climber Pads: 4 items
