ArcWear is Accredited

ArcWear is an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory, as issued by A2LA, the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. Accreditation by A2LA demonstrates ArcWear's benchmarking excellence that our customers can consistently trust our results. Because A2LA is a signatory to the ILAC MRA, your test data is also more readily accepted internationally. ArcWear prides itself on customer service and technical expertise - it is with the customer in mind that we voluntarily submitted for accreditation.

Accreditation by A2LA is a formal recognition evaluating ArcWear's processes for:

  • Compliance to ISO 17025,
  • Technical competence to perform the tests,
  • Quality customer service, and
  • The presence and functionality of a Quality Management System which includes extensive calibrations and a corrective action process

Accreditation Process

These requirements are demonstrated by a thorough audit and evaluation performed by the accreditation body. For many product certifications, it is necessary for testing to be performed by an accredited laboratory. This process serves to confirm why ArcWear performs about 90% of the world's arc testing (with our partner Kinectrics) and why many are using ArcWear for vertical flame testing and the test methods in ASTM F1506 and ASTM F1891.

We chose A2LA partially on their reputation as one of the most stringent accreditation bodies and because they have a cooperative agreement under the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). In 2000, ILAC members signed the Mutual Recognition Agreement in an effort to remove barriers to technical trade and enhance the acceptance of test data across the national borders of signatories. Signatories have been peer reviewed and shown to meet ILAC's acceptance criteria. A2LA is one of eight signatories in the U.S. today. A2LA's cooperative arrangement with ILAC, and the extension of this agreement to ArcWear which was granted upon accreditation, means that ArcWear's test data can be accepted worldwide.

Complete Scope

ArcWear's scope of accreditation includes textile tests, including those outlined in ASTM F1506-Standard Performance Specification for Flame Resistant and Arc Rated Textile Materials for Wearing Apparel for Use by Electrical Workers Exposed to Momentary Electric Arc and Related Thermal Hazards, and the vertical flame test outlined in ASTM F1891 Standard Specification for Arc and Flame Resistant Rainwear. ASTM F1506 and ASTM F1891 testing is required on materials by NFPA 70E.
